Asean Legal Information Centre (ASEAN LIC), Faculty of Law, University of Malaya (UM) organised the ASEAN LIP Event of 2018. The ceremony was held on 16 April 2018 at the Tun Mohamed Suffian Auditorium.

The ceremony was officiated by Chief Justice of Malaysia, The Honourable Tun Raus Sharif and also present was Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, President of the Alumni Association of Universiti Malaya's Law Faculty (PARFUM).

  • encourage legal research and scholarship, comparative legal thought, and harmonization of laws;
  • assist Southeast Asian countries and their agencies to effectively publicize legal information, help them educate their people on rights and responsibilities, and thus contribute to the promotion of Rule of Law and Access to Justice throughout the Region; and
  • empower legal, tax and other professionals to keep their respective outputs current, relevant and value-effective.

The event also witnessed the signing of MOU between the Office of Chief Registrar of the Federal Court of Malaysia and ASEAN LIC, UM. The MoU was signed by the Vice-Chancellor of UM, Datuk Ir. (Dr.) Abdul Rahim Hashim and the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Latifah Hj Mohd Tahar.
